It was an excellent evening at the Library. Two more thoughts: Albert Square features briefly in “Love, Actually” And I believe that much of “The Optimists of Nine Elms”, starring Peter Sellers, was filmed around Nine Elms, which is actually in SW8! (One scene was of Battersea Dogs Home.)

Andrew writes: Thanks Michael! It seems there’s always something being filmed in Albert Square and the Mursell Estate – not least thanks to the abundant parking opportunities. I remember Clint Eastwood directing Hereafter in Wilkinson Street for about 5 seconds of screen time.

Love Actually is a big enough deal to feature in SW8 THE SEQUEL should it ever get green lighted.

Re. Albert Square in Love Actually, the figure glimpsed ,walking at the beginning is I think Joanna Lumley. Also there was a day filming Velvet Goldmine in Albert Square.
