Petition to Lambeth Council

If you support us please sign our ePetition to Lambeth Council here:

http://moderngov.lambeth.gov.uk/mgEPetitionDisplay.aspx?id=380

“We the undersigned petition the council to continue to provide a full library service at Tate South Lambeth Library (TSLL), and to drop the plan to turn TSLL into a gym with minimal, unstaffed book loan facilities”
You can sign this even if you have also signed to keep other libraries in the Borough. Of course we want to keep our library, but Friends of TSL have always argued that all of the neighbourhood libraries should be maintained.

I’ve just moved around the corner and have sadly been too busy in working hours to sign up just yet- but my goodess, just the fact that Tate Library exists is incredible. Ive seen so many happy kids in that beautiful building- it must stay. Any library is a good space, but Tate is particularly fantastic. It must not be changed!!!

I am protesting over the plans to turns libraries into ‘bookish gyms’
Cllr Edbrooke has abandoned the idea of settings up an endowment fund for residents to run libraries as suggested in the Consultation but she agreed to convert the library space into a library Gym.

Calls for Edbrooke to come put to and listen to the concerns of the residents were ignored instead she agreed to the handing over of a petition .

There will be and an extraordinary Call-in Overview and Scrutiny Committee Meeting on Tuesday 10 November . We the campaigner to Save Libraries will be there to tell them work for the people and not for the profit.

The idea of turning the Tate South Library int a gym/library is appalling and flies in the face of CULTURE. Our Library is an essential service on which the community depends. I have lost all faith in Cllr Edbrooke as my Councillor and demands that she resigns

I feel very strongly indeed that the services provided by Tate Library should continue. They are vital to our community life – where else can local residents go to obtain such help and support for all ages?

Quite apart from this, there are already two gyms in Wandsworth Road, within walking distance of the Library.
    ………….
Please do not even consider closing it.
