While the co-design dialogue looks at the broad terms of the library service at TSL, Friends of TSL have continued to put through their own improvements . The most recent ones include:
- starting a clear-out of the large basement area under the library, to make space for items that need to be stored (freeing the clutter in the back rooms of the library) and disposing of those that are now redundant. Wherever possible, items no longer wanted are being offered to local community groups. (Contact friendsoftsl@hotmail.com, for details of what’s available.)
- buying and installing a blind in the front office, to counter direct sunlight that made working at computers difficult. This blind replaced a piece of cardboard and two sheets of brown paper that had been sellotaped to the window for at least five years.
- washing the cover for the sofa at the back of the first reading room. Twice.
So nothing revolutionary there – but TSL could always benefit from more TLC.
