A much-awaited event is scheduled for Thursday November 1st 2012 (3pm to 7pm) at the library.
The “co-design” process – where the local community participates in shaping the future public library service – will move from consultation into solid proposals by Council officials.
Lambeth Libraries will present:
- a proposal on opening hours, drawing on figures for footfall (the numbers visiting the library) and local population data, and having reviewed the suggestions made at the first co-design session on August 8th
- suggestions for the roles and responsibilities of volunteers, who could assist the library staff and/or support activities outside the service’s opening hours.
- draft terms for the use of the library outside opening hours by any local group, business or company .
More information will be made available both before and at the event itself.
Given that only six months remain before annual spending at Tate South Lambeth Library falls by one-eighth (£32,000) on the current figures, the committee of Friends of Tate South Lambeth Library will be particularly interested to find out what impact these proposals will have on cutting costs and on raising income at the library.
You will have your own questions. Come along and present them.
