Congratulations to Chloe Rose Packer who is the winner of the judges’ choice prize in the Tate South Lambeth Art Competition 2013 organised by the Friends.
The judges described Chloe’s untitled textile triptych as a combination of materials and techniques whose enigmatic scale which rewards viewing close up or far away. “A beautifully made abstract,” they said.
The competition attracted 25 entries with an amazing range of subjects, materials and techniques, all of which are on display in a special exhibition at the library until Friday 26 April 2013.
The judges were Martin Caiger-Smith (curator and lecturer at the Courtauld Institute of Art), Frances Morris (Head of International Collections at Tate Modern) and Munirah Olton who is an artist & creative director at Salongo Arts.
But visit the exhibition and help choose a second winner. Vote for your own favourite work of art before Friday 29th March 2013 and not only will you help to choose our popular winner but you could win two tickets to see the Roy Lichtenstein retrospective at the Tate Modern courtesy of our friends at the Tate. We have two pairs to give away. Winners will be drawn at random from the voting slips.
In the meantime, enjoy these pictures showing some of the entries and scenes from the Private View held last night for the Friends and the artists.
