AGM – our end of term report, our new committee

Friends of TSL held their annual general meeting, at the library, on May 22nd 2013.

The chairman’s annual report traced Friends’ role in the cooperative libraries regime being introduced by Lambeth Council – and the firm limits to our involvement in that policy. The major rise in the number and range of our activities over the previous 12 months was highlighted. Critical to this was the support of a widening range of local partners, who have contributed donations in money and kind and their skills, and given us a platform to promote our campaign and our activities.

The treasurer’s report showed growth in income, reflecting funding for activities and rising donations from members and participants at our events (all of which are free of charge). As of March 21st our bank balance was £1,520, with cheques totalling just over £1,000 due to be credited in the following five weeks.

In voting for the committee for 2013/14 the following were elected:

Chairman: Edith Holtham
Vice-chairman: Laura Swaffield
Secretary/events organiser: Daphne Desouza
Treasurer: John McCay
Membership secretary: Helen Holmes
Other members: Tommy Candler, Catherine Charles, Jack Hopkins, Kate Kelly-Tanguay, Bene Whitehouse
