About us

Friends of Tate South Lambeth Library is a community group working to improve the resources and services of South Lambeth Library. We are campaigning to save it from damaging cuts. This public library in South Lambeth, London, serves an ethnically and socially diverse community that includes pockets of deprivation. Read more about us in Our History

Friends of Tate South Lambeth Library has

  • saved the library from closure in 2000
  • promoted its renovation and refurbishment, both exterior and interior
  • developed Tate Local, a gallery space within the library, where we run art exhibitions
  • organised talks, parties and events
  • enhanced the library’s links to the local community
  • acted as a channel to library management and staff
